The people behind the festival

In the embrace of the dance, I dance with the feet of the one who dances next to me, and the one next to him with the feet of the one dancing next to him; and all together, our spirits rise to the rhythm of what the instruments teach us. Our bodies become one, one heart, and our hearts. When the idea of the Festival began to take shape in our conversations, our main concern was to share what was obvious to us. That which raised us, that which we loved and made us love each other. It is not just the music, or the art itself, and it is difficult to contain it in a single concept or a single festival. It is, perhaps, what we could call community. The example of the dance reflects the entire life of the community. That was our goal as well: to meet under the roof of this virtue. To open up, to make space for more, all that we can hold without the foundations cracking. It was our need to meet in the place that taught it to us better than anyone, along with the people who passed it on to us and continue to do so - often unknowingly - throughout their lives. To meet through art, but not just for it. To meet – and the rest will follow. In these photos, there are some of those who helped make the Chamezi Festival a reality. There are others just as many who weren’t "caught" by the camera, and we thank them with all our hearts! Those who opened their homes, who opened their hearts, who prepared the village, who helped in the café, in the kitchen, at the concert, and in the celebration. Thank you!
