Description

Antonia Dretaki & Venetia Galanaki – Natural Dyeing Workshop

Type of seminar: Hands-on / Practical
Participant level: Beginners
Teaching hours: July 15–16 | 17:30–20:30

Natural Dyes

Nature holds an astonishingly beautiful palette of colors that can be used to create enchanting textiles. In this workshop, you will be introduced to various techniques and plants used for natural dye extraction, such as onion skins, avocado pits, and loquat leaves.

Through this traditional and tactile practice, we reconnect with the origin of the fabrics that surround us and create unique pieces that reflect the landscape itself. All plants used in the workshop are either foraged or sourced from local farmers, and the fabrics are either recycled or organic.

We will explore three to four different plants and flowers, creating a range of colors using modifiers. Participants will dye samples of different fabrics and shades.

A detailed guide to the dyeing process will be provided to take home.
